Head of Sustainable Investment, Japan, FTSE Russell, An LSEG Business

Atsuhito leads the development of the sustainable investment index, data and solutions business in Japan, for FTSE Russell, an LSEG business, since September 2021. Prior to that, Atsuhito was a hedge fund manager for 18 years from 1995 mainly for Japanese pensions and US fund of funds. He then joined the Dutch asset management company Robeco as an investment officer in 2013 and developed its Japanese business with ESG integrated products. In 2015, Atsuhito joined Orix Bank as head of asset management to develop the fund distribution business with selected ESG products.

Satoshi Ikeda, Chief Sustainable Finance Officer and Director of the Strategy Development Division, Financial Services Agency, Government of Japan

 

Satoshi Ikeda has been the Chief Sustainable Finance Officer (CFSO) since March 2019, and Director of the Strategy Development Division since June 2024, at the Financial Services Agency of Japan (JFSA).

In this role, he covers a wide range of issues concerning sustainable finance which include, among other things, designing Japan's own transition finance framework based upon disclosures of transition plans and emissions data aligned with Taskforce on Climate Related Disclosures (TCFD), International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) and other international standards. He currently serves as Chair of the Working Group on Transition Plan of the Financial Stability Board (FSB) and Co-chair of the Working Group on Transition Finance of the International Platform on Sustainable Finance (IPSF). 

Yoko Nobuoka is a Senior Analyst covering the Japanese electricity and global LNG markets at the London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG).

Until 2020, she worked for the International Energy Agency (IEA) in France, where she contributed to the analysis of fuel supply sectors and energy sector investment for some of the IEA’s flagship reports, including World Energy Outlook and World Energy Investment.

Prior to the IEA, she worked for the Environment Directorate of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), BloombergNEF, and Merrill Lynch Japan Securities (now BofA Securities), involved in the analysis of energy market and climate change policy.

As Sustainable Investment Officer at Asset Management One Co., Ltd. (AM One), Minako oversees ESG integration and sustainable investment across the assets that AM One manages. Before joining the firm, Minako worked at Nomura Asset Management for a year as ESG Investment Manager for Japan equity team. In her ESG and Sustainability career, Minako developed ESG Rating Japan Research team at MSCI’s Global ESG Research and headed the team for 13 years. She managed ESG research for MSCI Japan Select Leaders Index and Gender Diversity Research for MSCI Japan Women Empowering Index which were selected by GPIF for their index investment mandates. Since 2020, as a Co-Head of Japan Chapter in Women in ETFs, Minako has played an active role to develop female talent network in financial industry.

David Russell is the Chair of the Transition Pathway Initiative (TPI), which assesses companies’ preparedness for the transition to a low carbon future, supporting the efforts of investors in addressing climate change.  

Prior to this, David was the Head of Responsible Investment at the Universities Superannuation Scheme (USS), the largest UK pension, where he worked from 2001 to 2023. He had responsibility for all aspects of RI strategy development and implementation across all asset classes.  This included its development of policy and strategy, stewardship, and integration across both public and private asset classes and from an asset manager and an asset owner perspective.  He also led on the scheme’s formal ESG related reporting, including the UNPRI, the UK Stewardship Code and TCFD reporting. 

 David is a former Board member of the UN PRI, was involved in the governance of the IIGCC from its inception, and until June 2023 was on the Board of the International Centre for Pensions Management.  More broadly, David is a member of the FTSE Russell Sustainable Investment Advisory Committee, and whilst at USS was also a member of the PLSA Sustainability Committee and the UK Investment Associations’ Sustainability and Responsible Investment Committee.

 Prior to joining USS, David worked as an Environmental Manager for a UK retail company, and was for five years a University lecturer in Environmental Management.  He has a Masters Degree in Environmental Impact Assessment.
