PFI Financing Energy Transition Roundtable

With so many infrastructure projects in the pipeline, huge interest in financing the green transition and the recent passage of the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) all calling for clarification and data-driven solutions, PFI will convene a panel of industry leaders to make sense of the new paradigm.

Taking place in New York on the afternoon of Tuesday May 14, 2024 , the PFI Financing Energy Transition Roundtable will cover opportunities and issues in the project finance markets as it relates to the energy transition; from the proliferation of renewables, power market and energy sector turbulence, the emergence of new technologies like hydrogen, and the financing structures being used under a new regulatory regime.

Core talking points will include:

  • The IRA and project finance: We will look at what the new tax equity paradigm via things like what transferability means for project finance, how capital stacks are changing, and which sectors will benefit most.
  • Renewables financing with transfers: The tax credit transfer market has burst into life, with billions of deals already booked and billions more expected by the end of the year. The project finance market has been deftly and nimbly incorporating tax credit transfers into financing structures and a core group of players has emerged. But traditional tax equity is still playing a key role with t-flip structures combining both credit transfers and tax equity dominating the market.
  • Emerging technology: We will look at how financiers are tackling the energy transition by backing emergent technologies like hydrogen, renewable natural gas (RNG), and more.
  • Dealing with the triple threat: Inflation, supply chain constraints, and interest rate rises have all conspired to make deal making tough. How are banks getting around these issues and what has it meant for the market?

The event will chaired by PFI’s Nic Stone and will bring the project finance community together in New York to hear from the most senior and experienced market practitioners in the field.
