COMPLIMENTARY EVENT FROM IFR ASIA
The IFR Asia South-East Asia & India DCM Roundtable takes place on the afternoon of Wednesday November 13 in Singapore and will draw on IFR Asia's extensive market contacts to bring together two diverse panels of industry leaders from the buy-side and the sell-side.
Speaking at the event will be:
- Sean Henderson - Co-Head of Asia Pacific DCM, HSBC
- Muralidharan Ramakrishnan - Senior Director, Infrastructure & Project Finance, Asia-Pacific, Fitch Ratings
- Raymond Chia - Managing Director of Asia Credit at BlackRock
- Nitin Soni - Senior Director, Head of Natural Resources – South & South East Asia, Fitch Ratings
- Amit Singh - Partner and Head of South-East Asia Capital Markets, Linklaters
- Diwakar Vijayvergia - Portfolio Manager—Asia Fixed Income, Alliance Bernstein
Topics to be discussed on the South-East Asia panel:
- How will the US dollar rate outlook affect prospects for offshore bond issuance from South-East Asia? What are the dynamics in ASEAN local markets that affect issuers’ decisions on whether to print offshore or onshore? What kinds of structures and tenors can be done in local markets and what is better accomplished in the offshore market?
- How has the reduction in China offshore bond issuance affected patterns of investor demand for SE Asian USD bonds and secondary pricing levels? And how does that change if Chinese issuance comes back?
- What kinds of industries in South-East Asia are going to see offshore issuance? Could there be any new sectors or geographies?
- Can project bonds be a viable instrument for South-East Asia? We have seen one or two renewable energy project bonds from places like Indonesia, but could there be others based on different assets? Is there appetite for greenfield project bonds and what are the considerations for investors?
- How can investors avoid corporate governance blow-ups of the kinds we have seen from bond issuers in places like Indonesia? Are there any red flags to look out for from debut USD bond issuers, or conversely things that give comfort to investors?
- Some ASEAN sovereigns are not regular issuers in the G3 market. Does this create a disadvantage for issuers in those countries, or any pricing distortions?
Topics to be discussed on the India Bond panel:
- What are the financing options for Indian issuers right now? Is the onshore bond market deepening and becoming more sophisticated? How does GIFT City factor into the options for issuance?
- How is the sudden boom in private credit funds changing the financing options on offer for Indian corporates? Is it affecting pricing for bonds or primary supply?
- There have been a number of corporate governance issues at big Indian corporates over the years. What should investors be asking for in terms of structural protections or disclosures?
- Is the onshore rupee bond market deepening and becoming more sophisticated? What impact has inclusion in major global bond indices had on yields?
- India has committed to continuing its infrastructure spending spree, so how can bond investors gain exposure to the space?
- How does international financial centre GIFT City factor into the options for issuance? Is it more efficient to do some kinds of bond deals through GIFT City?
