What's New? | Real-Time solution wins A-Team Innovation Award

The Real-Time Distribution System (RTDS) has just won an A-Team Innovation Award 2023 for the Most Innovative Use of Open Source/Cloud Technologies. The awards were announced on 23 March. Innovation is constant for the Real-Time Distribution System – every year there is about 10-person years of development effort included in the four releases that are delivered.
What's New? | Symbology grows in importance

To reflect the rising number of use cases for symbology among financial firms around the globe – for example, for machine learning and artificial intelligence – a new Symbology web page was recently launched. The new web page contains information about the different identifiers that Refinitiv is involved with, including PermID, RIC, SEDOL, ISIN, and LEI. There is also information about how to use symbology in the Developer’s Community.
What's New? | New data sources available from Refinitiv Real-Time

Two new data sources have been recently added to Real-Time Data. These include:

  • Fixed Income Money Market and Derivatives Association Of India (FIMMDA) – According to Reserve Bank of India (RBI) regulations, all regulated entities – such as banks and non-bank financial institutions – must use FIMMDA valuations for their regulatory reporting. The FIMMDA offering currently covers the following data sets-
  • Daily Spreads for Annualized and Zero-Coupon Corporate Bonds
  • Daily Yields for Annualized Corporate Bonds
  • Cumulative Trades for Corporate Bonds (T1, T3)
  • Fortnightly Spreads for Annualized and Zero-Coupon Corporate Bonds

  • Canadian Securities Exchange (CSE) – Real-Time Data now offers the Canadian Stock Exchange’s secondary orderbook data (CSE2). Trading on CSE2 comprises Canadian Securities Exchange listed securities (formerly called CNQ) and TSX/TSX Venture Securities (formerly called Pure).

  • Running Google BigQuery SQL inside Visual Studio Code: Some users do not have access to the Google Cloud Platform Console. Often the user is provided with a 'Service' account (see https://cloud.google.com/iam/docs/overview for more details). This could be due to company policy or firewall/security type reasons. The BigQuery Runner extension with VS Code offers a great way of running SQL queries against the BigQuery data and downloading the query results in a variety of formats.


  • Learn Refinitiv WebSocket APIs with Postman: Many Refinitiv Real-Time solutions support WebSocket protocol. This article shows how to use Postman to establish WebSocket connections to Refinitiv Real-Time products to retrieve or contribute real-time financial data. It doesn’t require any coding skills to use Postman so users without programming knowledge can use the Postman workspace provided in this article to test or learn Refinitiv WebSocket APIs.
