Asia Pacific deal making hit the brakes as 2024 kicked off, totaling US$104.5 billion during the first quarter, a 28% decrease and the slowest opening period since 2013. Asia local currency bond offerings totaled US$776.0 billion during Q1, a three-year low and equity capital markets offerings from issuers in Asia Pacific, excluding Australia, totaled US$31.8 billion, the lowest first quarter total in the region since 2009.
