Mahitab Ashmawi, MBA, CFA

Mahitab Ashmawi has more than 14 years of experience in the financial field. Ashmawi is currently working as a senior customer success manager covering Investment & Advisory at Refinitiv, a London Stock Exchange Business. Prior to joining Refinitiv, Ashmawi worked at multiple Asset management firms in Cairo & Dubai. She worked at NBK Capital Asset Management – Egypt as a portfolio manager, focusing on managing the equity funds and portfolios of the company. Previously, she worked as a research analyst at Beltone Financials and at the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) as a risk analyst in the risk management department. Ashmawi graduated from The American University in Cairo (AUC) majoring in Actuarial Science and holds an MBA from Ecole Supérieure Libre des Sciences Commerciales Appliquées (ESLSCA), as well as being a CFA holder.

Philippe Shah is responsible for business development and sales strategy for the Refinitiv (an LSEG business) benchmark and indices business.  This involves securing mandates to deliver new, or enhanced benchmarks from regulators and investors and ensuring sales teams and their customers are aware of how new benchmarks impact their workflows and data requirements.

Previously Philippe was responsible for Refinitiv’s benchmark and index business in Asia Pacific, working with a number of benchmark owners on their local benchmark strategies. Philippe has worked in the company since 2007, in a variety of business development, strategy and marketing roles, based in London, Mumbai, New York and Singapore. Philippe has a BSc in International Business from the University of Warwick, UK and an MSc in International Management from the Community of European Management Schools.

Sam is a Solutions Business Director at the London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG), helping develop solutions for financial institutions’ data requirements. He is also the Sales & Account Management division Digital Assets Lead. Sam started his career in Tokyo where he spent 4 years, two years in Technology consultancy and two years at Citibank managing the market data environment. He came to London in 2000 and joined Morgan Stanley, where he spent almost 15 years working across various areas of the firm from solution development for High Frequency Trading group in the Cash Equities division, to being a COO in the Corporate Technology division in NY, where he spent 2 years living and working. Sam then spent 5 years working at JPMorgan where he ran Program Strategy for the EMEA Branch organisation (covering 38 countries in EMEA), and latterly working in the Strategy team in the Corporate Investment Bank (CIB) focused on infrastructure strategy. Sam has been with LSEG for just over 2 years.

Alex is a client-facing technical financial Solutions Consultant, working with clients to achieve their ESG and sustainable finance goals at LSEG. He ensures the alignment of LSEG’s ESG data and solutions with client ESG needs. As a keen problem solver he has a strong interest in risk, quant workflows, research management systems, investment performance measurement, and dynamic regulatory governance in the ESG space. Prior to joining LSEG, Alex worked as a Senior Consultant at FactSet addressing client ESG challenges on both buy and sell side. In the past Alex has spoken at events on ESG topics including ESG regulations, EU Taxonomy, and SFDR. He is passionate about inclusivity and champions ESG culture at LSEG and beyond. 

Barnabas believes that sustainability is the defining success factor in the 21st Century. He is constantly exploring how the combination of data and technology can help to build a more sustainable and circular economy. He published a DuPont Model of Clean Economy, developed the Corporate Emissions Index. He is a permanent contributor to the Refinitiv Sustainability Perspectives Podcast, is a lecturer on the Sustainable Finance Certification Course at the Budapest Institute of Banking, and is a committee member of the Green Frog Corporate Reporting Awards. 

Barnabas holds a Bachelors in Marketing & Market Research, a Masters in Financial Accounting and a Ph.D. in Statistics and Econometrics.

Alexandre HARDOUIN, Director of Fixed Income Desktop at Refinitiv, an LSEG Business

Alexandre Hardouin manages the Refinitiv Fixed Income Desktop business globally, driving the strategy to serve both sell-side and buy-side market participants. Alexandre previously worked as a sales trader and in a financial software start-up prior to joining Reuters. Afterwards, he pursued a 20-year career in client-facing and product management roles with specific expertise in fixed income markets and analytics. Alexandre has been deeply involved in Libor transition in the past few years.
